First, you’ll need a catchy invite to send out. My favorites live on Paperless Post. I found the cutest template below and made it my own.
Second, you’ll need a cake. A boob cake, at that. If anyone happens to be in Little Rock, Arkansas, Community Bakery is the one stop sweet shop for all of your sugary needs. I made the mistake of going into Blue Cake prior to Community Bakery and asking about creating this masterpiece below. They said that they were a “family-run business,” that children could be around, and that they didn’t create nudity cakes…all the while looking at me as if I asked them to create porn. Come on, y’all. Let’s be a little more progressive next time someone comes in asking about a double mastectomy cake. Shout out to Community for being part of a bigger cause than themselves.
For more sugary sweets, you can always bake your own boobie cupcakes! One of my best friends made these for the party and they were PERFECT. You can even go the extra mile and place them in the shape of a pink ribbon, the international symbol of breast cancer awareness. More food ideas from my Pinterest page include white chocolate (with light pink food coloring) covered strawberries, white chocolate covered pretzels, heart shaped cookies turned upside down (to form boobs), pink marshmallow rice krispies, and mammo-graham sandwiches (cutest idea EVER).
The drink station comes next with “Pick You Cup Size” cups with hand-drawn bra sizes that people can choose from. My speciality cocktails were Seabreezes. NOM. Find the recipe below.
This serves 8-10 people. Double the recipe for more!
-16 oz of vodka
-30 oz of Cranberry juice
-12 oz grapefruit juice
-Lime wedges
-Mint leaves
Party decor should follow with pink everything: Pink solo cups, pink straws, pink plates, pink napkins, etc. These can all be found at your local Party City store or the old reliable Amazon.
Pink
Everything
If you’re into games, a breasty piñata is always a good idea, boob pong with these balls, or even Pin the Boobs on the Babe. If you’re wondering where to purchase this, full disclosure: my friend went to an “adult” store, so there’s that.
If you’re feeling in a very DIY mood, you can create your own Bra Pong: get a large board, pin bras to it, stand back, and try to throw a ping pong ball into a cup! Check out my Pinterest board for more ideas like this! Party favors can include my favorite pink OPI nail polish, pink M&Ms, pink starbursts, and if you’re feeling boozy, a bottle of my favorite Whispering Angel rosé. Options are endless! Lastly, a creative donation table for breast cancer research is also an option. I’ve seen some cute ideas on Pinterest such as a pink boot with white writing “Give Breast Cancer the Boot!”

The best part is the icing that is missing on the boob cupcake from Thomas taking a swipe!

I was just diagnosed with breast cancer and having a double mastectomy in a couple of days. My friends just “surprised” me with a boob voyage party. I don’t get it. Yay! You’re sick, you need to have parts of your body removed, then go through chemo, lose your hair, get even more sick, but let’s all have a party and make this fun!! I don’t understand how anyone could think this was a good idea.

Hi Kate, I’m sorry to hear about your diagnosis. Everyone is certainly different with their outlook. Some want privacy and creature comforts while others crave a boob voyage party and a few laughs. To each their own. I hope you are recovering well <3

I am so sorry that you were offended. I hope your journey has gone well. Everyone reacts differently and I am truly sorry for your pain.

so sorry for your diagnosis. I believe, that at this little get together your friends and family should of been setting up times they would cook you and your family dinners be with you at difficult times coming over to do laundry, clean house…. grocery shop and or even sitting with you will you recover from doctor visits… letting you know we are here for you…
Melissa says
Ok, so let me start with saying that I hope you are doing well and have overcome your diagnosis.
Now, I am going to be less PC than posters before me.
Cancer sucks, we all know this. Some people wallow in self pity, and others uplift and support by trying to lighten the mood and coming together. No one is forgetting that a cancer diagnosis is not reason for a party. I envision that there may be tears at these parties, by those diagnosed, AND those supporting their friend. But hopefully there are also some smiles made by the puns at the party. And that the newly diagnosed, scared-out-of-their-mind person leaves that ‘party’ knowing she has an amazing support system around her.

Keep up the good work. I wish I’d had time for s party- but I lost mine in pieces. It would have helped me to say goodbye!

Thanks for this. We forwarded your full blog post to our local bakery who enthusiastically agreed to make a cake for my sister. Her “Ta Ta to Kristie’s Ta Tas” is this Saturday. Surgery Tuesday. I’ll send you a picture of her cake. ❤️🌹

Thanks amazing. Send her so much strength and love!!

The mammo-grahams might be my favorite part! After having my v1.0 boobs squished and Swiss cheese-d in every imaginable machine, it’s great to have opportunities to laugh at an experience that could just as well make me bawl. People process misfortune in lots of ways, and it really helps me feel better to know I’m not the only one who needs to laugh when life hands me bad tomatoes! Thanks soooo much for posting about your whole experience. I felt like a little kid flipping through a My First Trip To The Breast Surgeon picture book. Helps shave some of my anxiety of next week’s big day!

Having mastectomy in a couple weeks decided to have a good bye breast party. Thank you for the ideas!
