Third time seeing Machu Picchu didn’t disappoint. Each time is vastly different from the last. The only way in is by train or foot, and for the first time ever I did the Inca Trail express hike through the Sun Gate this month with @limitlestravel☀️We didn’t exactly carve out time for the full 4-day Inca Trail, so this gave us a taste without camping overnight. We stayed at one of my favorites hotels @inkaterrahotels in Aguas Calientes and went for a proper tour the next morning. Hearing this history never gets old. I knew this time was coming, but it’s still hard to swallow and organize my thoughts. I’m currently going through the stages of grief after a loss. Right now I’m on anger. Arkansas became one of the very first states to make abortions illegal on Friday - no exceptions for rape or incest. Punishment for healthcare providers is up to 10 years in prison and a fine of up to $100,000. Mind blown. This ruling won’t end abortions. It will end safe abortions and propel many women either into poverty or into the ground - dead. I’m wondering if any of the 26 states that ban abortion also have plans to offer expansion of resources or financial care? You say you want to save the innocent lives of fetuses,but what about once they become a newborn? We’re already in a formula shortage. What about when they become a toddler? We’re already in a childcare crisis. What about when they reach 4th grade? We’re already in a gun lover’s paradise. Will you be pro-life then? I think that term needs a rebrand. After becoming a mother myself, I’m more pro-choice than ever before. No one should ever be forced into motherhood. This country already struggles with breaching the topic of postpartum depression. This will certainly exacerbate it. I know quite a few women who’ve had abortions for various reasons. You probably do, too, even if they choose not to share their secrets with you. And it doesn’t matter their reasoning. Abortion is healthcare, period. Please don’t tell me to move states or countries (although it’s tempting). That’s the easy way out. Please stop telling me to stay in my lane. We are all multifaceted human beings, plus I used to work in politics so I guess this is my lane. Please save your bible verses. I grew up Catholic and guess what? God still loves me, too. Also: separation of church & state; politics & medicine. As it stands right now, my daughter will grow up with less rights than I did. We are quite literally going backwards. But I refuse to believe that long term - maybe I’ve moved into the grief stage of denial, or maybe we really are that strong and loud and fierce. Land of the free? Hardly. Home of the brave? Damn right and ready to fight.💪 #roevwade

Look at those eyes. She’s an old soul. She’s been here before. I’m sure she knows we’re leaving tomorrow…and it doesn’t get any easier. It gets so much harder with each passing trip. I’m trying to wrap my head around the fact that we are going to Peru tomorrow, but it’s as if my brain can’t grasp it, even after all the prep work. Maybe because we’ve taken her to Hawaii and Fiji in the last month…that I don’t want to process traveling without her. But the show must go on. During @limitlestravel Chile, a participant hugged me so tight when it was time to leave and said, “Promise me you’ll keep doing these. People need them. Truly, we do.” Another participant said I saved her life. I’m still sitting with that. The night before each trip, I always get like this. Excited, overwhelmed, reluctant to leave my child. After each passing trip, the fire burns brighter than ever. We can’t stop, and we won’t stop. The @limitlestravel train continues down The Road Les Traveled! Lifting these women up around the globe is an honor, and I speak for the team when I say we’ll do it for as long as y’all let us! Thankful as ever for the many people who make this possible, most of all my parents for caring for the most precious human as we step away🙏🤍

I just put my daughter to bed after a terribly long travel day(s) full of bad weather, cancellations, an overnight in LA and more standby lists. None of that matters in the wake of the most recent elementary school shooting. Absolutely nothing. We still have life to live and each other to hold on to. Twenty-one other families in Texas cannot say the same. After all this, after all the senseless carnage and death, I cannot believe this country is still protecting certain language from the 1700s. 56% of Americans support an assault weapon ban. 86% of Americans support a red flag law. 89% of Americans support background checks. And yet we are held hostage by our elected officials. Make no mistake: voting matters. This country gets so much wrong with this particular issue being underlined, italicized, bolded and capitalized. Yes mental health needs so much more support and yes the parents need to be held accountable and yes government funding should be highly scrutinized, but the unfortunate truth is that all of these aids won’t always find those who need it the most. The USA cares more about its precious second amendment than human life. We’ve been here SO MANY TIMES. There’s a mass shooting followed by an outcry of how this has happened followed by thoughts and prayers followed by social media gun debates followed by political party standstills followed by going back to “normal” followed by another mass shooting. Innocent people will continue to die at the hands of gun owners - legal or illegal - until something is actually done about it. I can’t imagine being a parent, standing outside of an elementary school, waiting to hear if my child survived a mass shooting. Hug your loved ones extra tight this week and always🤍

And another travel chapter comes to a close. Honestly, I had no idea what to expect from Fiji. I have it on my website bucket list that I made way back in 2013…’To be in love in Fiji’ it reads. It’s just a faraway destination I always dreamed about…only existing in coffee table books and dreamy honeymoon escapes. Still pinching myself that we were about to make it happen this way - both parents meeting in paradise with the help of @tourismfiji, @interconfiji and @fly_fijiairways. Safe to say our parents love each other, and I’m so happy they’ll be able to say a “great to see you again” instead of a “great to meet you” at the wedding. I’ve never been to a destination where the people are genuinely so incredibly loving, especially to your own child. Where the vegetation alone made you feel worlds away. Where the sunsets were otherworldly. I wish I could individually thank everyone we came in contact with, so I’ll just say…see you again soon instead of goodbye. It was one of the best family vacations I could’ve dreamed up! #fiji #travel #thankyou
