Summer on The Road Les Traveled was fast-paced, filled with new friends, and over in the blink of an eye. Before we bid summer farewell, let’s play LimitLes catch-up…shall we? We kicked off our summer with LimitLes Italy 2023 in late May and have been running around the world ever since. We started in the beautiful Tuscan town of Greve in Chianti and rested our heads in a stunning 10,000 square foot villa for the first leg of the trip. Then we packed our days with everything from the museums of Florence to the ruins of Pompeii and finished up on the etched cliffside of the Amalfi coast. Here are three of our itinerary standouts!
Best of LimitLes Italy 2023
Peter’s Cooking Experience in Positano
Ever gazed down at a coffee table book to see a colorful sun-drenched hillside of villas by the sea? It was probably Positano. Visitors can spend endless hours hiking up and down the hilly town shopping and gazing the day away until the jaw-dropping sunsets hit. When filling out our itinerary for our Italian honeymoon last October, Alex and I were lucky enough to be referred to Peter to snag the last two spots for class.
Peter is a local chef with a passion for perfection. He dedicates endless hours to sourcing the finest ingredients from Italian lands, farmers, and families. He shared with us a culinary experience that transcended food. And we knew we needed to return with friends in tow. The thoughtfully constructed space overlooking Positano combined with the sizzle of garlic, the aroma of basil, and Mediterranean sea breeze…it was a once-in-a-lifetime Italian masterpiece. Oh! And let’s not forget the incredible winecellar that was just as carefully curated as chef Peter’s kitchen. Corners were never cut, (many, many) glasses were always raised and bottles forever emptied. We giggled our way up the cobblestone steps with full bellies and full hearts.
Lucca Bike Tour
Picture this: a posse of fierce women on bicycles decked in ponchos and pedaling on city walls. Lucca is one of those little Italian towns that effortlessly merges the past and present. The overcast skies hung around just long enough to clear the streets of crowds and give us the infamous walls to ourselves. Guided by laughter and fueled by gelato, we navigated the cobbled streets and alleyways. We soaked in the architecture and history that whispered stories of an ancient era. We stopped in all of the squares dedicated to the many famous composers who were born here. Found ourselves in hidden corners, and ended our day at the oldest (and most delicious) restaurant in town- Buca Mario. Spoiler alert: it was the best tiramisu of our Italian adventure!
Capri Boat Day
Of course our Capri Boat Day was the stuff dreams are made of. Sailing through turquoise waters, we embraced the salty breeze as we headed towards the Bagni Internazionali Beach Club. Fresh seafood was prepared in front of us, crystal-clear waters surrounded us, and rough cliff textures are forever etched in our memories. It was a day of pure bliss – and luckily for us – the only truly sunny day on the coast! So we reveled in the vitamin D, popped the champagne, and jumped in the chilled Mediterranean Sea as we bid our Italian summer and new friends farewell.
To strong female friendships that made this one much more than a road trip through Italy…to our travel partners on the ground who helped fine-tune the day-to-day details with us…and to the Italians who welcome us, feed us, and share the LimitLes beauty of their country with us: GRAZIE MILLE! What’s the next European stop for LimitLes Travel? Only time will tell!
