I was on a zoom call today at 2pm when the sirens came on. They sound every Wednesday at noon as a test, but I immediately realized today wasn’t Wednesday. I abruptly left the call and jumped in the car with Alex. Nora was just down the street at school, and I knew we had a few minutes up our sleeve. We got home and cleared out the Harry Potter closet. It brought back memories of sheltering in our basement as a child, but those times were truly few and far between. Yeah I grew up in tornado alley, but we came away unscathed. This seemed so real, almost at our doorstep…and somehow now I was the mom. No longer was I seven years old looking to my protectors asking if everything was going to be okay.

The thing about tornadoes is they’re over almost as soon as they start. They’re fast, leaving a wake of destruction in their path. Without any impending threats, we headed two miles away to the next neighborhood where it hit friend’s houses and tormented others. Alex launched the drone and property damage is extensive - what you’re seeing here is sadly only a drop in the bucket. I don’t even think we know the full extent of torture that happened here just yet. I keep getting video after video and each one is worse than the last. My heart goes out to everyone who has experienced loss today. Thank you to everyone who has messaged and texted to check in on us♥️Grateful for life as some major healing begins for this state🙏I’ll be updating as I hear more about ways to help those affected! #littlerock #arkansas #tornado
