Yes, blogging is my full-time job. Many people don’t realize the grueling hours that go into travel blogging between the planning, writing, photography, strategy, social media, collaborations, partnerships and legal side of things. Oh, and don’t forget about the actual travel part 😉
Where should I go on my honeymoon?
So often I get emails from couples saying, “We just got engaged and are trying to plan our honeymoon. Where should we go!?” That answer totally depends on what you and your partner are looking for in a getaway. Are you adventure junkies? Romantics at heart? Luxury lovers? Beach goers? All sorts of different people take my photos, but recently, I’m lucky to travel with my partner who’s a professional photographer and aerial cinematographer.
How did you get started?
I started my blog when I was living in Buenos Aires, Argentina. I was working as a Marketing Manager for a luxury hospitality company while living abroad, gaining all sorts of knowledge that would help propel me forward in the blogging world. I’ve always wanted to start a blog, but I wanted it to mean something special to me…a passion project if you will. I knew that combining what I’d learned at that job with my love for travel would present the perfect opportunity to start. I’d never built a website or run my own blog before, so it wasn’t without its huge challenges, trials and errors. When I wake up every morning excited to open my computer and tackle the ever-growing questions, I know I made the best decision.
How do I start a blog?
Starting is the hardest part. I think that holds true for a lot of things in life. Starting a term paper. Starting a job. Starting an adventure overseas. Starting a blog. It’s the unknown that scares people, but success comes from overcoming the fear that so often hinders and stunts the growth of many. Blogging should be fun, hard work, and something you’re passionate about. It takes creativity, dedication and long hours to make it worthwhile. We can talk all day about the mechanics of starting a blog, but bottom line: you must exude passion. Throughout the long flights, the airport delays, the never-ending drives and the mind-boggling inefficiencies along the way, frustrations absolutely arise while traveling, but the passion always outweighs them.
