LimitLes Colorado was always meant to be. It was never a matter of if but when, and the stars aligned for our dreams to come true this July. I’ve spent so many hours in Breckenridge and always returned with bright eyes in every season, through every stage of life. Needless to say, I was beyond excited to bring the LimitLes magic to an all-time-favorite mountain town. Here are the most loved activities from our Breckenridge + Frisco focused itinerary. 😉
LimitLes Colorado 2023: The Best of Breck
Mayflower Gulch Hike
I was excited to return to Mayflower Gulch with new friends in tow. This trail is a picturesque haven for wildflower lovers and adventure seekers alike. As we climbed higher into the mountains, the air became thinner, the path more challenging, and the beauty more breathtaking. Wildflowers scattered the landscape with bright colors on the way up. While the 360° views near the snow caps at the highest elevation were the greatest reward. A gentle reminder that the most beautiful moments often require a climb, both figuratively and literally. It’s a trail that’s loved by many, so if you can choose a weekday morning, it’s best to get started before 9:00 AM to get ahead of the summer heat and crowd.
Granite Via Ferrata
Completing the Granite Via Ferrata course with our group was the epitome of unique challenges and unforgettable experiences. It pushed everyone out of their comfort zones, quite literally, as they scaled rock faces and traversed suspended bridges. I got to watch from the ground as the LimitLes ladies climbed, free-fell, repelled, and zip-lined down and around the cliffs cheering each other on the whole way.
The course exudes cool, and the thrill of conquering the seemingly impossible was matched only by the life lessons this whole experience embodied. Engaging your core, trusting your footing, and having no choice but to focus on your breath and reach for the next prong (while being harnessed in and totally safe) set the tone for so many life-equivalent conversations. Via Ferrata was the embodiment of empowerment through overcoming challenges, and it was beautiful.
Tin Plate Pizza
I’ve been around the world and back. And I’ve concluded that Tin Plate pizza is in the running for my favorite pizza. Period. The sourdough pizza crust steals the spotlight perfectly chewy, crispy, and delicious. The classic and artisan pies are each a work of culinary art. Rightfully so, because this family-owned and operated business strives for the highest quality and invests time into the details which shows in the 72-hour sourdough bread and pizza dough, 24-hour cultured butter, and 12-hour braised buffalo short ribs. I had a peach prosciutto pie (sub goat cheese for blue cheese) on two out of our four-night stay if that tells ya anything. Zero regrets. It’s safe to say that the flavors of Tin Plate Pizza will linger in all of our *mouth-watering* memories.
Smart Bellies
We can’t let you go without touching on Smart Bellies. This non-profit backpack food program was started by two friends who loved to ski on weekends and spotted an opportunity to serve their beloved ski town community. When commuting to/from ski weekends, they packed bags of nutritious foods with them to deliver to local Breck families whose little ones were relying on school lunches during the week. They took this simple idea and amplified it with the help of sponsors, donations and the local community.
We hopped on this opportunity to give back. And it was a shining example of good intentions paired with a well-thought-out approach. We showed up, picked up, and dropped off so many bags of nutritious food in just a few hours. If you’re looking for a quick and effective way to give back while you’re in town, you can pack bags or deliver as quickly as an hour’s work. We loved volunteering with Smart Bellies and think you will too!
We did so much in such little time and could not stop smiling through every challenge, meal, and commute. LimitLes continues to create magic by bringing women together and stepping out of our comfort zones together – this time in the outdoor oasis of Breckenridge, Colorado with 16 new friends. This itinerary was perfection from start to finish if I do say so myself. Would y’all be interested in every detail? *Hint, hint.. coming soon*
