Returning from my month-long stint in southeast Asia meant extremely light clothing and sweat proof athleisure outfits. The very next day, I was off to a job in Denver, a favorite city of mine. With about 18 hours on the ground to rest and repack, I looked at what the weather was doing in Colorado before stuffing my carry-on. Going from 98 degrees to a cool 40something does a body frigid, but it doesn’t get prettier than a Colorado fall, y’all.
Like all travelers do, I made the journey while carrying my winter coat on me, refusing to allow one article to take up half my suitcase – even though I probably could since this one is ultra light and compressible. It was our first outing together, and like any first date, I was nervous. Were we going to hit it off? Would I be shielded properly from the cold? Covered from wind, snow and rain? Would their be chemistry?
Smile says it all. It ended up being a red hot match made in Marmot heaven 🙂
In one weekend, I wore this baby OUT. We were inseparable from take-off to landing and back again conquering any and all conditions. Here were my favorite times together…
Sporty Spice
Everything was nice. The mountain air, the crisp weather, the pop of red. Truth be told, I underestimated how cold Denver would be in early November, so I’m beyond thrilled that I brought this guy with me. It’s a better way to warm and made up of 75% recycled material. Warm + eco friendly = win/win. What I love most about this jacket is the fit: it’s long enough in the torso and covers my bum. The sleeves are the perfect length while the range of motion allows for so many varied activities plus enough room for extra layers if needed.
Coffee Cultured
Big red made another appearance during the weekend as I went from sporty to casual. Lunch was upon us after a morning full of hiking, so I traded hiking boots for comfy riding boots and base layers for sweaters – all the while, Mr. Marmot stole the show. Get a jacket that can hold its own – then accessorize how you see fit with beanies and mittens!
Street Sense
When the sun goes down, the moon rises and this lil’ jacket never sleeps. I love when function meets fashion – and I notice I gravitate towards red 🙂 Even without help from sunshine, the Marmot Schussing featherless jacket kept me hitting the streets, restaurants and bars for hours. It features 3M ™ Thinsulate ™ recycled insulation and is as warm as 700 fill-down. Even if the Denver skies opened up, this jacket stays warm when wet.
Snow Bunny
Okay, I lied. This jacket can really be worn four ways – or more. The options are limitless. For the sake of this blog post, we’ll end here with my favorite ski/snowboard features: helmet compatible, sleeve ski pass pocket, chest pockets, internal zippered pockets, internal mesh pockets, avalanche rescue reflectors. Talk about performance product to the max. Colorado, we’ll be back for your slopes ASAP!
