Stella Murphy, 4/30/24🕊️

We had to put down our family dog today after finding out she has heart failure. She’s been going deaf and blind for a while now, but this week the vet said she was declining rapidly. We knew this was coming, but it doesn’t make saying goodbye any easier. She’s been in the family almost 15 years, and I’m pretty sure she’s had even more lives than that. I’ve know her longer than my husband and two kids combined. Through college and boyfriends and breakups and surgeries and coming into town and leaving town and moving to town…she’s loved me through it all.

Back in 2009, my mom came home with her one day when someone at her hair salon said Stella was up for grabs. Being a Chinese Crested, she could’ve been the hairless or powderpuff variety. I’ll never forget seeing her for the first time…just a small puff of fur, as energetic and cuddly as they come.

It didn’t matter who sat down next to her, who left town, who left who, or how many grandkids overshadowed her…she was always ecstatic to see you. I hope she left this earth as happy as she came into it, and I can’t wait to cuddle her again one day because all dogs go to heaven. Love you forever and a day, Stella Bella🤍 #alldogsgotoheaven

This month always feels full of healing and transformation. In 2017, it’s when I underwent a double mastectomy. In 2018, it’s when I went through a transformative breakup. In 2019, it’s when I went south to my favorite place in the world with new friends for the first time (Patagonia, it’s always you). In 2020 it was when I learned to garden in a pandemic. In 2021, it was the month we bought our wedding bands. In 2022, it’s when my baby learned to walk. In 2023, it’s when our city had to pick itself up from devastating tornado damage + the month we found out we were having another baby girl. This month, we’re called to surrender again and again as we hit the most challenging sleep regressions I’ve ever known. April always feels timely and fresh, like spring cleaning in the best way as we usher in new beginnings together🌱🌸🌷🌈

Exactly one year ago, I did a gender reveal for my parents all the way in Italy💕

We were home in Arkansas, and my sister found out the sex of our baby while simultaneously coordinating with @hotel_santa_caterina on the perfect cake to surprise my parents with at dinner💕It was around 1pm our time/8pm Amalfi time. What’s extra special is that their hotel was our honeymoon hotel the year prior so everything came full circle🥹Pretty sure the entire restaurant thought my mom & dad were the ones having a baby girl…if my mom didn’t kill someone first with that knife in her hand😂I love these two SO much and their infectious joy all the way from Italia🤍
