LimitLes trips are intentional escapes for those looking to travel with like-minded people who crave movement, purpose, connection, adventure, and change for the greater good. LimitLes Antarctica is no ordinary vacation! From movement to adventure – you’ll walk away with a deeper connection to yourself, nature, and a travel community filled with genuine friends.
In my humble opinion, if you travel south and step outside of your comfort zone, you might stumble into the best version of yourself.
LimitLes Antarctica March 2025
My favorite places in the world are oftentimes the hardest ones to get to, and soon, we’ll be setting sail to the furthest one of all. The seemingly unreachable White Continent has been a 10-year dream in the making…finally becoming a reality next year! When people ask me about the number one place on my bucket list, I always have the same answer. Antarctica is the epitome of The Road Les Traveled with amazing wild life, stunning landscapes, and so much raw beauty that so few travelers have had the honor to witness. This will be a LimitLes first, and I’m so excited to invite 20 of you to join us for this truly bucket list adventure!
We’ll be led by none other than Quark Expeditions who has been on my radar since I entered the travel industry while living in Argentina way back when. Quark embodies the luxury adventure we know and love, and on top of that, their Expedition Team is top-notch. Some have degrees in marine biology and political science while others have trained as medics, biologists, park rangers, outdoor educators and lawyers. They’re adventure guides, wildlife experts, environmentalists, polar history experts, glaciologists and conservationists. Need I say more?!
The 11-day itinerary aboard our dream boat, the newly acquired Ocean Explorer, will immerse us into the otherworldly land of Antarctica. We’ll experience the thrill of exploring majestic natural environments by zodiac and on foot, get up close and personal with penguins, whales, and other fascinating wildlife along the way. Check off the 7th continent with me – the LimitLes way!

Accommodation:
During our first night together, we’ll rest our heads comfortably in Ushuaia while we unwind from the journey. The southernmost city in the world, located on the southern coast of Argentina’s Tierra del Fuego archipelago, oozes explorer vibes. Known as the Gateway to Antarctica, this is the end of the road for many, and quite literally as the Pan American highway spanning from the northern tip of Alaska ends right here. This remote and enchanting city serves as a gateway to some of the most breathtaking landscapes and adventures on the planet. Ushuaia boasts a rich cultural heritage with museums, historical sites, and vibrant local cuisine, making it a must-visit destination for those seeking adventure at the edge of the world. This is where we’ll board our home away from home – Quark Expeditions’s Ocean Explorer.
Our home away from home for 9 nights – The Ocean Explorer
The Ocean Explorer:
This luxury, 138-passenger vessel is the newest addition to Quark’s fleet and was designed for polar exploration in the most remote destinations. One of the ship’s key features is the ULSTEIN X–BOW, a marine engineering innovation that ensures a comfortable and smooth sailing experience thanks to the inverted bow. The industry leading X-bow design houses a two-floor library with stunning 360 views, and the forward-sloping X-Bow minimizes vibration, noise, and impact for a comfortable passage in any polar sea conditions. With four sea level embarkation points and a fleet of 15 zodiacs, this is no ordinary cruising with stunning Scandinavian interior design, fuel efficient Rolls-Royce engines, and the ground-breaking MAGS gasification system that converts waste into energy, eliminating the environmental impact of waste transportation.
With deck viewing parties, two lounge areas, a gym, dry sauna, spa, two jacuzzis, two-story library, polar boutique, lecture lounge, Latitude Bar and three dining spaces, the options on-board are truly LIMITLES!
In March, whale season is in full swing offering great chances of sightings, and the juvenile penguins are busy learning to swim. While all months bring out the photographer in everyone, the sun is lower in the sky during this time of year, creating beautiful sunrises and sunsets. Exploring during Antarctica’s summer means we’ll also likely experience Antarctic glacier calving meaning the breaking of ice chunks from the edge of the glacier. I’ve seen it happen at my favorite glacier (for now) Perito Moreno in Argentina. It’s a moment that heightens all five senses and something you’ll never forget!

All about the Drake Passage:
Crossing the infamous 800-mile wide Drake Passage is a right of passage for travelers. Rough seas and high winds give it the name “Drake Shake”, but when it’s smooth sailing, it’s known instead as “Drake Lake”. The truth of the matter is you don’t know what you’re going to get until you get there. We’ll encourage you to come with a brave heart and some motion sickness patches or medication. The beauty of this type of travel is no matter what, we’ll be in it together!
