Augustus Gloop, Save Some Room For Later!
So that’s a Willy Wonka reference above if it was over your head. Simple advice, but important: Eat slowly. Let’s face it, that vat of pimento cheese isn’t going anywhere. Eat slowly and take time to enjoy it! By the time you feel full, you will have avoided overeating.
Cut Down on the Sugar
It feels like the holidays are always packed with sweet treats. Cakes, brownies, cookies, homemade ice cream, you name it. So many options, so little time. Don’t deny yourself completely, but pick and choose wisely. Keep those portions in check – you’ll thank yourself later! Also, when possible, nibble on fruit instead. With natural sugars and hydrating properties, fruits and veggies will make you feel a million times better about slipping into that bikini.
Don’t Drink Your Calories
When celebrating with friends and family, it’s easy to suck down a few drinks without realizing it. Be aware of your drink count. First off, no one likes to be hungover on the flight home ::shudder:: Secondly, there are smart drink choices that count down on calorie and alcohol intake. Rosé and white wine spritzers are fantastic choices! Light beer is another solid option if you love a cold brew on the lake. Avoid sugary frozen concoctions and too many heavy beers such as IPAs. Finally, after every alcoholic beverage, swap in a glass of water to stay hydrated! Hydration is KEY.

It may sound paradoxical, but don’t fret so much about sticking to a strict diet during the holiday. The more you obsess over it, the more likely you are to break under the pressure and overindulge. Focus on spending time with loved ones and take it easy! Even if you slip up one (or ten) too many times, you can always go back to juicing and detoxing next week. 🙂
